Gentleman’s guide

“Being male is a matter of birth. Being a man is a matter of age. But being a gentleman is a matter of choice.”
Allow me to introduce our weekly segment: The Gentleman’s Guide
For all your unanswered questions, do’s and don’ts and more importantly a set of guidelines to live by.
Today’s topic of choice is the tie.
Tie Length
The longest end of the knotted tie should neither be above nor below the belt, it should reach the center of your belt buckle.
Tie Knot:
The Windsor
This knot is usually worn with a spread collar shirt; it is mostly fitted for formal occasions or meetings.
Keep in mind: It has to be symmetrical, precision is key.
The Windsor half knot
Similarly to the Windsor knot, it must be symmetrical, however it has a smaller knot for a sharp but discreet look.
The four in hand
This knot has the easiest tying method, not as tricky or symmetrical as the other two mentioned, this knot is suitable for less formal occasions.
Tie Width
The width of your tie depends on your body shape. The larger your shoulders are, the wider the tie should be.
Average-sized men should wear ties that range from 3 to 3.75 inches.
Tie Color
Light colored shirts are best paired with darker colored ties. You can also match it with darker shades of that shirt. (And vice versa for a dark colored shirt).
If you are wearing a patterned shirt match it with a tie of the most prominent color on that shirt, make sure that the tie is darker than the shirt.
If you wish to match a patterned shirt with a patterned tie:
When wearing a striped (Or checkered) shirt, wear a tie with larger stripes (or checks).
